Practice Nurse - Castle Healthcare Practice

We are a high achieving, forward thinking and well organised teaching Practice. The team consists of 9 partners, 6 salaried GPs, an ACP, a Practice Pharmacy Team, Practice based Physiotherapists, 8 nurses and HCAs and a capable and competent administration support team.

The Practice aims to deliver high quality care to 17,500 patients, using SystmOne. We work from a purpose-built surgery, hosting an extensive range of extended services. As a training practice, there is an active undergraduate and post graduate teaching programme in place. We are part of the Rushcliffe PCN and are a high achieving Practice with full QoF and local enhanced service achievements. Free staff parking is available and access to the NHS pension scheme.

The successful candidate would provide and maintain a high standard of nursing care for patients as well as providing nursing assistance to the doctors and other members of the primary healthcare team. The duties will include all tasks normally undertaken by a RGN and in addition any roles agreed between the nurse and the doctors as appropriate, having received relevant training.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Vaccinations and immunisations
  • Chronic disease management, including asthma, hypertension, diabetes and COPD
  • Smears
  • Lifestyle advice, including; diet, smoking and alcohol intake
  • Assist with minor surgical procedures
  • Collect blood samples and manage in accordance with guidance
  • Provide wound care and management
  • Perform suture removal
  • Perform ECGs
  • Administer intramuscular injections, including B12 and pneumonia
  • Document consultations following NMC guidelines
  • Obtain and document consent and informed consent
  • Follow infection control standards at all times
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times and follow information governance policy
  • Able to utilise a variety of IT packages, including; SystmOne, Notis, Ice and INR Star
  • Understanding of QOF
  • Ensure the maintenance of equipment and stock levels relating to patient care
