LMCs interact and work with – and through – the General Practitioners Committee (GPC) of the British Medical Association (BMA). The GPC hold a UK LMCs Conference each year as well as a separate conference for each of the home nations e.g. England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The annual UK LMC conference was held on 10 and 11 May in York at the Barbican Centre.
Several members of the Nottinghamshire LMC committee and its chief executive, Michael Wright attended the York conference. They produced this video of their reflections.
The GPC England convenes an annual conference of representatives of LMCs in England. The agenda for the conference is set by an agenda committee who are elected each year. Over 300 representatives attend each year and debate a wide range of motions in issues relating to general practice in England.
This year, the annual England LMC Conference will be on Thursday 24 November 2022 and a special conference will take place on Friday 25 November. The purpose of the special conference is to discuss a vision for English General Practice with which to negotiate a new GP contract in 2024.
